Good morning!
I have contacted the leader of the local Albuquerque WordPress meetups about giving my end-of-course presentation during the next co-working event and it seems like it’ll work out! I hope to also have my fellow WP Credits students at CNM giving their wrap-up presentations there that day as well, but that depends entirely on their preferences and availability.
It was a great two weeks! We’re nearing the end of the course and I am feeling accomplished.
WordPress Campus Connect @ CNM
I have also begun the process of organizing a WordPress Campus Connect at CNM. This will be a workshop in which students will learn all the skills necessary to create a website for their business or personal portfolio.
This is not entirely within the scope of the WP Credits course, as things move slowly at CNM and this will likely need to be planned for September or October. But I would like to begin organizing it now as part of WP Credits.
This is the progress I have made:
- I have started the WordPress Meetup Organizer Training course.
- I have put together a rough outline for the workshop. It will include a guided tutorial and a time for students to work separately. This way they learn the essential skills and then have a chance to personalize their websites and receive guided help.
- I have contacted one of the Learning and Computer Center supervisors at CNM. The Learning and Computer Center will likely be able to provide a computer lab in which we can hold the campus connect, as well as some volunteer helpers who can ensure computers are working and can assist students in essential WordPress skills.
- I have also contacted an associate dean of the school of Business, Hospitality and Technology. This department could get their students aware of and interested in the workshop.
- I submitted the WordPress Campus Connect Organizer form.
- I submitted a request to WordPress.com for free hosting for educators, that way attendees of the Workshop have websites they can work on.
